BLACK LIGHT' is seven tricks in
one.
The
basic effect is that it looks like
you have failed to find the
spectator's card until you shine the
mini UV light the card and your
prediction suddenly appears as if by
magic.
It certainly sounds like a simple
effect to magicians, but it's not
until you perform it on laypeople
that the full value of the effect
becomes apparent.
Included in the 'Black Light' kit
you receive the UV Light, 4 pages of
instructions, 12 gaffed cards and an
envelope, plus 6 bonus effects.

A UV twist on the classic
'fingerprints' trick.

A fun twist on 'Lips' where a
spectator's kiss appears on the
selected card.

A Four becomes the chosen Five using
the Black Light.

A twisted piece of misdirection to
add to your favourite card to wallet
routine.

Max Maven's classic but all four
cards are blank!

A great UV twist on the old
favourite.

THE TIM CARD
POKER DEAL
"It's the Jonah Card on
steroids!" - Mike King

This is
Tim's take on the classic of card magic 'THE TEN CARD POKER DEAL'
The
premise is simple: the magician will play poker against the
spectator, but they will play using only ten cards between them.
The
magician guarantees that the spectator will WIN the first two of
three hands, but promises that he will beat the spectator in hand
number three.
-
HAND 1:
The spectator shuffles and deals the ten cards face
down. When the two hands are turned over we see that the
spectator has indeed beaten the magician.
-
HAND 2:
The spectator shuffles the cards face down, then chooses
a 'hole card' for himself, which is placed face down on the
table in front of him. The magician does the same. The remaining
eight cards are turned face up one by one and the spectator can
choose to keep or reject any card... and yet he still beats the
magician!
-
HAND 3:
The magician wins against all odds. The cards are fanned
FACE UP towards the spectator and he is asked to choose the best
possible hand. He thinks he has... but thanks to clever
psychology, the magician has temporarily blinded him from seeing
the best hand and the five remaining cards BEAT the five cards
the spectator chose!
No
sleight of hand.
Easy to
follow instructions.
All ten cards included
ready to perform.
The perfect trick for poker nights! |

REVIEWS OF SUE-ANNE WEBSTER'S
TRICK - 'BLACK LIGHT'
"I got my Black Light effect
from Sue-Anne at Fechter’s and I
have not stopped using it since. The
response has been too good to
replace it. Other tricks and the 7
effects like CSI that come with it
are topical and so easy to adapt to
any situation. It’s like having the
ultimate adaptable magic effect at
your fingertips. The best part is
that the main prop hangs innocently
on your key ring until you are ready
to do some magic. Talk about
packing small and playing big."

“Sue Anne Webster’s BLACK LIGHT
is a practical, convenient way to
add killer new visual effects to
your card magic repertoire.
WARNING: This ultraviolet magic has

"To
meet Sue-Anne Webster is to love
Sue-Anne Webster. I don’t get
around much so I discovered her
late in the game and had to go
to the back of the line. Tim
Ellis is unfortunately at the
front of the line, but it is
just he…and my wife… who are
temporarily keeping my future
with Sue-Anne in a holding
pattern. Please know, however,
that no amount of personal
devotion would cause me to give
a product of hers a good review
if it were undeserved, and she’s
put out a terrific trick,
actually a set of tricks
packaged together, that utilize
a battery-operated mini-light
about the size of a ChapStick.
I’ve seen other magic effects
that come with an ultra-violet
light, a light that, when shined
on a special invisible ink,
causes it to appear with a
magical glow. This package,
however, comes not with one
trick, but seven, and over a
dozen hand-made invisibly marked
cards so the purchaser has a
multitude of effects ready to go
(the light even comes supplied
with batteries…and an extra set
as well). A few of the effects,
in brief:
*
A spectator selects a card and
returns it to the deck. The
magician tries to locate the
card, and finds the wrong
one…that is it appears to be
wrong until, when the light is
shone on it, a message appears
naming the correct selection.
*
A nifty version of B’wave is
performed where all cards are
shown blank at the start, and
the spectator nominates one to
be an imaginary Ace of Spades.
When the light is shown on the
selected card, it indeed appears
as the Ace of Spades, while the
remaining three are blank.
*
My favorite of the effects,
called "CSI", is one where the
magician uses the light to
locate a spectator’s selection,
and the spectators fingerprints
begin to glow on one card only –
their card. I like this so much
because the use of the light is
particularly organic.
There are four other effects,
and all are commercial. At
thirty bucks, shipped, that’s
less than five bucks a trick,
several of which I’d bet you end
up performing, so this is an
official good deal.
Considerations: The writing on
the cards, when writing is used,
is in English. The directions
for each trick are clear, but
bare bones, so you’ll have to
come up with your own patter and
expanded presentations.

Trick Review: The Tim Card Poker Deal
Guide Rating -

Tim Ellis delivers a winner with his
Tim Card Poker Deal, a poker-style effect where the magician
plays three hands of poker against a spectator and always loses
the first two hands and wins the last. The spectator seemingly
makes the choices. It’s an easy effect that is great for
beginners, offers lots of opportunity to interact with
spectators and is strong enough to work in a walk-around set.
In Tim Card Poker Deal, the magician
challenges a spectator to three hands of poker. The magician
brings out ten playing cards that will be dealt-five to each
player. In the first hand, the spectator mixes the cards, deals
them face down and wins. The second hand involves a version of
stud poker where a hole card is dealt to each player face down,
and then the spectator builds his hand from the remaining face
up cards. Once again, the spectator wins.
The Money Hand
For the third hand, the magician says
that he will win. This time, the spectator gets to build his
hand by choosing the five cards that he wants from the ten
face-up cards. As predicted, the magician wins.
The effect is based on the “Jonah”
concept-whoever ends up with a certain card wins or loses. The
trick comes with ten red Bicycle cards, one of which is
gimmicked for the effect. The written explanations are thorough
and clear and the effect is easy to learn and perform. It’s a
good trick for beginners.
Experienced magicians can entertain
with this one as well. The effect will fool the majority of
audiences, but a few eagle-eyed card players, a small minority,
may catch on.
Of course, there are lots of poker
effects out there that let spectators make choices and lose. But
Tim Card Poker Deal practically works itself and lets you focus
on presentation. If you’ve been wanting to add a poker-style
effect to your repertoire, this one is solid.
