EARLY YEARS

Sue-Anne is inspired to take up magic after watching David Nixon on TV.

Sue-Anne wins 'Sports Girl of the Year'

Sue-Anne appears in a radio play.

Sue-Anne flies across Antarctica.

 

Tim given a Hanky Panky Magic Set from his grandfather.

Tim joins 'The Young Magicians' school under the tuition of Lyndsay Reitschel.

At the age of 14 he is the youngest member ever admitted to 'The Magic Circle of Victoria' club.

 

1978

Tim attends his first Australian National Magic Convention

Tim makes his television debut on 'The Earlybird Show'

1979

Tim wins four out the five of 'The Magic Circle of Victoria's awards for magical excellence

1980

Tim attends the Australian National Magic Convention and is declared 'Teenage Champion Magician'.

Tim appears on the Network Ten television show 'You're A Star!'

Tim appears in the title role of the stage play 'Charley's Aunt' and also wins the Ivanhoe Grammar 'Public Speaking Award'.

Sue-Anne completes 7 years of piano tuition.

1981

Sue-Anne is presented the Queen's Scout Award, the highest youth award possible in Scouting, from Governor General Sir Zelman Cowen.

Tim is resident close up magician at 'Babushka - House of Magic' (later known as 'Merlins') until 1986.

Tim studied Film and Television at Swinburne University.

Tim writes, produces and stars in 'The Magic Club - A Musical Magical' with a cast of teenage friends. The show interwove the magic through a storyline and was performed throughout Melbourne until 1984.

 

1982

Tim tours schools through the Northern Territory, Western Australia and Queensland with Terry Dansic in 'Star Magic'.

Tim appears in the Heidelberg Theatre Company production 'The Royal Hunt of The Sun'.

 

1983

Sue-Anne is the bass player in a rock band.

1984

Tim creates his own solo show for schools 'Magic Unlimited!', featuring the white-face mime character 'Bon', and tours Victoria.

Sue-Anne is made Assistant Director on the the ABC TV youth show 'Beatbox'.

 

1985

Tim founds the company 'Magic Unlimited'.

1986

Tim lectures on Pyschic Fraud to the National Skeptics Convention and exposes Uri Geller's scam on the Zanex Mining Company.

Tim produces 'The Festival of Magic' and then expands it into the annual 10 day festival 'Magic Week' which features 'The Ultimate Magic Show' at the Palais Theatre.

Tim declared 'Best Close Up Magician in Australia' at the Australian National Magic Convention

Tim appears as a regular guest on 'Young Talent Time' for 3 years.

 

1987

Tim creates and performs the role 'Head Chief Rabbit' in 'The Wind In The Willows' staged in Melbourne's Botanical Gardens.

He drives a $100,000 Mercedes blindfolded for 'Magic Week'

Tim appears as a living mannequin and a robot in city store windows.

Sue-Anne travels to the USA, Europe, and the UK.

 

1988

Tim is named by Harper's Bazaar magazine 'Top New Face of 88'.

Tim performs at Hollywood's legendary Magic Castle.

Tim performs at Expo 88 in Brisbane.

Sue-Anne becomes a professional cartoonist.

Sue-Anne starts training as a magician and puppeteer.

Tim is buried alive in Melbourne on national television to promote 'Magic Week'

Tim makes first of ten guest appearances on television's 'The Midday Show'.

Tim produced and performed in 'Moomba's World of Magic', a series of 100 different magic shows staged in the Alexandra Gardens over the 10 days of Moomba.

1989

Sue-Anne performs her first professional magic act.

Tim creates 'The Magic School' and begins teaching magic with Lyndsay Reitschel.

He tours Victorian schools with his new show 'Spellbinder'.

Tim performs a 4 month season at the Comedy Cafe.

Tim returns to the Magic Castle in Hollywood, and also appears at the Desert Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, USA.

He produces and edits the magazine 'Australian Magic Monthly'.

Tim escapes from a wooden crate in Melbourne's Yarra River to promote 'Magic Week'.

Tim produced and performed in 'The Greatest Show At The Show' in the Dugdale Theatre at the Royal Melbourne Show.

1990

Tim declared 'Best Stage Magician in Australia' at the Australian National Magic Convention

Tim performs his close up show 'Pure Magic', throughout January at the Victorian Arts Centre.

Sue-Anne joins The Australian Playhouse Studio.

Tim tours the Northern Territory with Christof!! and Peter Gray in the cabaret show 'Every Trick in the Book'.

Tim performs in Fiji with Andrew Gill as guest of the Sigatoka Festival.

Tim appeared on TV as the 'Bayswater Bulk Discount Ace'

Tim produced and performed in the opening shows for Melbourne's 'World Congress Centre'.

Tim appeared regularly in 'New Vaudeville' at The Prince Patrick Hotel.

1991

Sue-Anne stars in 'The Real Inspector Hound' and 'Macbeth' at The Riverside Theatre.

Tim tours Victorian schools with his new show 'Dreamweaver'.

Tim is awarded 'Special Prize of the Jury' at The World Championship of Magic (FISM) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Tim creates 'MagicSports', and becomes a regular columnist for the International Magic Magazine 'Genii'.

Tim produced monthly 'Showcase Sundays' at Witches in Britches Theatre Restaurant, where magicians met and tried out new material.

1992

Sue-Anne stars in 'Dark of the Moon' at The Riverside Theatre, and a short film for the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.

Tim produced the record-breaking Australian National Magic Convention in Melbourne.

Tim purchased Bernard's Magic Shop and produced a series of 18 Magic Teaching Videotapes starring Bryan Wood.

Tim guest starred at the International Brotherhood of Magicians Convention in Salt Lake City, USA, and performed a two-week season at The Magic Castle in Hollywood.

 

1993

Tim performs a straitjacket escape suspended by his ankles from a crane in Alice Springs.

Sue-Anne stars in 'Blokes Like Him', 'King Karakosh's Court' (where she spoke Arabic).

Sue-Anne appears as an actor on Real Life on Network Seven.

Tim performed a season of Christmas shows at Pitrone's Cabaret.

1994

Sue-Anne takes private tuition in puppetry from Turoa Walmsley, and Latin Dance from Josaic Prates.

Sue-Anne travels through Latin America.

Tim tours Victorian schools with Michael Boyd in his new show 'Pure Magic',

Tim creates the Magic Unlimited Magic Course for the Showbiz department at Prahran TAFE.

Tim awarded the Silver Medal in Close-up Magic at The World Championship of Magic(FISM) in Yokohama, Japan.

 

1995

Sue-Anne made her first film appearance.

Tim produced late night close-up magic shows at Mietta's, Melbourne.

Tim starred in 'International Stars of Magic' with Jeff Hobson, Jade, and The Wilsons at Burswood Casino, Perth.

Tim returned to the Desert Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, USA.

 

 

1996

Sue-Anne travels through India and Africa and climbs Mt Kilimanjaro.

Sue-Anne appears in a Indian/Australian music video clip by top Indian digeridoo star Min2, and appears in Aboriginal sitcom 'The Masters' on SBS.

Tim appears at the Society of American Magicians Conference in Las Vegas, USA.

Tim co-produces the two hour special 'Magical Mystery Tour in Australia' for Japan's NHK TV.

Tim produces the biggest Australian National Magic Convention ever staged.

Tim's monthly 'Showcase Sunday' nights move to The Aquarium in Brunswick St, Fitzroy.

Tim performed a season of illusion shows in Singapore at Junction 8.

1997

Tim and Sue-Anne meet at a one-day Magic Convention in Sydney.

Tim is the first Australian ever to perform as a guest at The World Championship of Magic. He appears on the Close Up Gala in Dresden, Germany.

The 'Showcase Sunday' nights return to the newly revamped Witches in Britches.

Tim and Andrew Gill stage 'The Safety Zone Variety Show' at Melbourne Central.

1998

Tim and Sue-Anne are married in Sydney.

Tim and Sue-Anne release 'Wizards of Aus - Exposed', a calendar featuring Sue-Anne's caricatures of Australian magicians.

They perform their new show 'Dreams & Illusions' at Caper's Dinner Theatre.

Sue-Anne wins a Special Award for her stage magic at the Australian National Magic Convention, and takes on magic as her full-time career.

 

1999

Tim and Sue-Anne tour Victorian and Tasmanian schools with the show 'Magic Unlimited's Best Show Ever!

They perform at Sydney's Olympic Homebush Stadium, levitate a car in Perth, and perform at Parliament House, Canberra.

They act as Magic Consultants for television's 'Blue Heelers'.

They produce and perform a two-person, three hour show to see in New Year's Eve.

 

2000

They are profiled in 'The Two of Us' - which later appears as a top-selling book.

They perform a return season of 'Magic Unlimited's Best Show Ever!' through Victorian schools, and a sell-out season of 'Cunning Stunts' for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

They co-edit the national magic magazine AMM2000.

Tim and Sue-Anne appear as special guests at the Society of American Magicians Convention in Milwaukee, USA, and perform throughout Europe.

 

2001

They are invited to appear as special guest lecturers at Hank Lee's Cape Cod Conclave, The Battle of the Magicians, and the prestigious, invitation-only convention for close-up magicians, FFFF in New York, where they are voted 'Most Valuable Participants' by their peers. The first time ever a duo has been awarded such an honour.

 

2002

Tim and Sue-Anne lecture all over the USA and are special guests at The World Magic Seminar and MagiFest.

They lecture in Paris, the UK, and Munich (where they perform with The Flicking Fingers) and are guests (with Tommy Wonder) at the South African Magic Championships.

2003

Tim and Sue-Anne travel the USA with their 'Driving U.S. Insane' lecture tour, including performing at the Winter Carnival of Magic in Tennessee, and the SAM Convention in Las Vegas.

They bring The Flicking Fingers to Australia for two conference weekends in Melbourne and Sydney.

They head to The World Championship of Magic in Den Haag where the perform on the Gala Show, introduce 'MagicSports' to the world, and Tim becomes Australia's first representative on the FISM Jury.

 

2004

Sue-Anne wins 'Best Stage Act in Australia' for her Jeannie tribute act.

Tim produces the 29th Australian National Magic Convention and Ellis & Webster are guest lecturers and performers at the New Zealand Magic Convention.

Tim and Sue-Anne travel to Seoul, South Korea to perform as guest artists on Lee Eun-Gyeol's 'Magic Concert'.

Sue-Anne visits Hogwarts in the UK.

Tim and Sue-Anne perform three shows daily at Melbourne's Luna Park.

They set a new Guiness World Record for 'The World's Longest Magic Show' (75 hours non-stop!)

They both appear on the television shows 'Mornings with Kerri-Anne' and 'Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton'.

Released 3 new teaching DVDs for the magic community: 'Runaround Sue', 'Ellis in Wonderland', '24 Years of Living Next Door to Ellis', as well as Sue-Anne's trick 'Black Light' and Tim's 'Tim Card Poker Deal'.

 

2005

Sue-Anne appears as Jeannie on Channel Nine's 'Starstruck' TV show, 'The Price is Right' and Tim & Sue-Anne's home is showcased on 'Location Location: Amazing Homes'.

Tim and Sue-Anne are guest lecturers and performers at the first ever 'Merlin's Close Up Magic Invitational'.

Sue-Anne is nominated as 'Best Actress' for her role in 'Speed Dating 101', an Australian film in the '15/15 International Film Festival'.

Sue-Anne performs a season on stage at The Magic Castle in Hollywood while Tim performs in the Close Up Room.

Sue-Anne makes several appearances as 'Jeannie' on Channel Nine's game show 'The Price is Right'.

Tim & Sue-Anne lecture around the USA and appear as guests at FFFF, Hank Lee's Cape Cod Conclave, MAWNY, Tannen's New York, The International Battle of the Magicians.

Tim & Sue-Anne present 'Magic Unlimited's Halloween Spooktacular'.

 

2006

Ellis & Webster perform at The Royal Melbourne Show.

Tim performs Magic on Radio with Darren James and Tony Leonard on 3AW.

Tim & Sue-Anne nominated for 'Lecture of the Year' by the Academy of Magical Arts. The award is voted on by 5000 members of The Magic Castle and presented on April 1 in Hollywood.

Sue-Anne plays a role in the multi-award-winning Orsino Images film 'Damien' made for the '15/15 International Film Festival'.

Tim & Sue-Anne act in the Orsino Images film 'My Life or Something Like It', made for The Geelong Shoot Out.

Ellis & Webster perform a public show at 'The Comic's Lounge' in Melbourne.

Tim & Sue-Anne head to Sweden for the The World Championship of Magic.

Sue-Anne Webster featured in articles in Fernwood Magazine and the Herald-Sun HOME.

 

2007

Tim Ellis performs his new solo show 'Poker in the Face' for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Tim Ellis & Sue-Anne Webster featured on the internationally screened television program 'The 23rd FISM World Championship of Magic'

Tim Ellis & Sue-Anne Webster individually listed in the magic history book 'Dictionnaire de la Prestidigition' published in France. They are the only living Australian magicians profiled in the book. The only other Australians listed were Les & Esme Levante, Murray, Jean Hugard, Percy Abbott and Al Wheatley.

Tim & Sue-Anne are also individually profiled in the Australian Magic History book 'Deceptions Downunder' by Brian McCullagh.

Sue-Anne writes and stars in the show 'Private Eye' with Anthony DeMasi, Enzo Ficco and Lee Cohen for the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Tim & Sue-Anne are guest performers and lecturers at the 4th Asian Magic Convention in Hong Kong. Tim also sits on the Close Up Magic Jury and Sue-Anne on the Stage Magic Jury.

 

2008

Tim and Sue-Anne travel to Bangkok and Hong Kong for corporate shows.

Tim Ellis performs his new solo show 'Something About Needles & Razorblades' for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and makes headline news when a trick "allegedly" went wrong and the audience was forced to sign secrecy agreements.

Tim & Sue-Anne perform 'Illusionarium' for two weeks as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival sponsored by radio station LIGHT FM.
